‘Know the History’ was started in 2015 in collaboration with The Namibian newspaper in order to (1) showcase and disseminate ongoing academic projects to a non-academic audience, (2) inform the public about the ways in which Namibia’s often troubling history structurally impacts the present-day, and (3) teach the reader a bit about the ‘craft’ of the historian and what goes into these sort of investigations. Since the inception of the series – with some hiatus periods – there have been more than thirty article contributions, stimulating community discussion.
‘Know the History’ is published monthly (on Fridays). It forms the written component of the Namibian History Online project, in conjunction with the Namibian History Podcast and the Namibia Digital Repository.
